Headteacher’s Welcome Statement

I would like to warmly welcome you to St Mark’s CE Primary School.

We are an inclusive, welcoming and nurturing family where everyone feels safe, happy, loved and valued in a supportive Christian environment. We recognise all children as unique individuals and their needs come first in all we do. The key component to the success of the school is teamwork. We recognise that education is far more than that achieved within the classroom and value the importance of partnership, involving everyone – children, parents, staff, Governors, church and the wider community. Through these partnerships we aim to provide the best possible educational experience for each child and their family.

Our school’s Christian vision is at the heart of all we do at St Mark’s and is underpinned by our school values of RESPECT - Responsibility, Equality, Spirituality, Perseverance, Enthusiasm, Commitment and Trust. We aim to make a positive difference to the world we live in for ourselves and others by following the example of the Good Samaritan.

Our school motto is ‘Loving to learn, learning to love’… together inspired by Jesus’ words of “Let all that you do be done with love.” 1 Corinthians 16:14.

We are a school that strives for success at all levels, encouraging children to grow in confidence and independence as they progress through the school. The school's life is driven by enthusiasm, dedication, and a desire to succeed. We promote active and creative learning, encouraging children to embrace challenge, build resilience, and celebrate success. Our curriculum is intentionally broad, and children can participate in a variety of cross-curricular activities, as well as music, performance, and sports.

On 1st June 2020, we joined the Orchard Community Trust and we work closely with a number of schools including: Abbey Hulton Primary School, Etruscan Primary School, Forest Park Primary School, Kemball School, Oakhill Primary School and Watermill School.

Ofsted conducted a short inspection of the school in March 2017 and, as a result, St Mark’s retained its status as a ‘good’ school. In April 2016, St Mark’s had a statutory SIAMs inspection (Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools) as a Church of England Aided School and the school moved from ‘good’ to ‘outstanding’.

We hope that you enjoy your visit to our website and that you find the information you are looking for. Please feel free to contact the school directly with any queries you may have.

Mr. Lee Nicholls, Headteacher

St Mark's Online Saftety Policy

Online Safety encompasses internet technologies and electronic communications such as mobile phones and wireless technology. You can download and read our policy on Online Safety here: St Mark's Policy on Online Safety.

Keeping under fives safe online (ChildNet)

Ofcom research in 2016 showed that almost 40% of 3-4 year olds and two thirds of 5-7 year olds go online. We know that children need support in these environments, to get the best out of using the internet, and there are real advantages in making sure that children are supported in their internet use right from the start. ChildNet has prepared a pdf guide for the parents of under-7s to help them think about the issues involved. You can find it here: Keeping Under Fives Safe Online.

Keeping Children Safe Online (for parents) (NSPCC)

The NSPCC have drawn together lots of advice for parents, including Being Share Aware, MineCraft Safety Advice, and how to stay safe using apps. The information can be found here: NSPCC Keeping Children Safe Online.

Parents' Online Safety Helpline (NSPCC)

Parents can also contact the free NSPCC Online Safety Helpline with questions about parental controls or concerns about a social network their children are using on 0808 8005002.
